I was lucky enough to have their tasting menu and the many courses were all perfectly executed, French inspired, and modern. It's the first time I've had foie gras and superbly fancy cheeses, along with plenty of other foods I cannot name. Additionally, the bar room has a great sampling of their dishes and drinks, without committing to expense of an entire tasting menu. It's a very elegant experience, with an outdoor view of the statues in the garden and one my favorite, more upscale stopping spots.

Choose a 3-course, 4-course or tasting menu. There's a list of about 20 items - cold app, hot app, and entree. Regardless of what you choose, the first items will be appetizer portioned and the final one will be entree sized. The tasting menu was basically a pre-selection of items on the main menu, so it didn't seem worth it to go that route, I opted for the 4-course where I could choose whatever I wanted. Food: - The included amuse bouche received was very good - a nice pea soup with a thin circular cracker with shrimp crema. - Beet and pear salad - with granola and yogurt - pretty good - Sweet potato gnocci - circle of cheese atop each piece of gnocci, with a nice sauce - Sucking Pig - it's pork 3 ways - it looked like pork belly, medallion of loin, and some strips of porchetta. It came with small white turnips and some pieces of really yummy white potato or carrot. - Pre-dessert/palate cleanser - a mini ice cream cone with tomato rosemary sorbet; very nice - Dessert - Giaduja ice cream was really rich and good, and it came with a flan type thing that was white on the outside, with a chocolate center. Topped with some really yummy, nutella flavored, soft granola-like mixture. Overall, very good and filling. Take your time to enjoy the meal - our party stayed there over 3 hours. Service: - Very good, friendly, very helpful with answering questions. - They serve you in a synchronized fashion. Ambiance: - The dining room is right next to the MoMA garden. Went there for dinner, so not as much to see, but they let us take a couple photos on the terrane. Would go again for lunch for the nicer view. Drinks: - I got one of the cocktails from the bar - it was good, but not particularly strong.

It was open on Sunday in July. Good food, reasonable price at the bar room.

Did not appreciate that well the way we were treated by the staff while trying to get a table. They found excuses not to give us a table, and this was solely based on our outfit. I personally did not expect that from the place since I have been there a few times. For this reason I give only one star.

The finest restaurant I have ever seen. Even better than Per Se, Jean Georges, Bouley, Daniel. It is absolutely unbelieveable in quality. That new head chef has done some incredible things there.

There is no need to go over the accolades that The Modern has received over time; three stars from the New York Times, a Michelin star, and several James Beard Awards since its opening in 2006 are enough to define the caliber of this restaurant. Diners should note that there are two separate dining areas in the restaurant, the less-formal Bar Room, which serves dishes a la carte, and the Dining Room, which requires diners to choose either the four-course prix fixe or the tasting menu. Signature items include the "Alsatian Dumplings", filled with a savory and tender rabbit-truffle filling and the Quail Baked "En Terre Glaise", a surprisingly intricate dish. The quail breasts are wrapped in grape leaves and baked in clay, a cooking method that's completely separate from the preparation of the legs, which are carefully seared. The protein is placed a top an assortment of vegetables, including morels and spinach, which have been cooked in a rich wine and cream sauce. If that were already not enough, the plate is finished off with a ring of Macaroni Grantiné, a concoction which Kreuther himself likens to mac and cheese. Regardless, any meal here is sure to be near-flawless, and a dining experience to remember.

The Modern hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
