Hey everybody! Check out our Help-Portrait event!

As part of Help-Portrait, we are partnering with Johanna B Photography in organizing this event and offering free portraits for those who can't otherwise receive portraits for the holidays.

Help-Portrait is an international movement of photographers, hair stylists and makeup artists, and many other volunteers who come together all over the world on December 5 to provide professional photos for free.

If you'd like to volunteer, let us know, and if you need a free family photo, we hope to see you there! Follow this link to learn more about the event and see photos from last year's event!

Just in time for Halloween, indeed. Steve Russell possesses the unique knack for capturing beauty in the insect world, even amongst the arachnid family. Spiders as fine art. Who knew?! Check out his incredible work and tips for discovering this world yourself ... on the RMSP blog! #RMSP #photography #macrophotography #insectphotography #spiders #creepycrawlies #Halloween
This is that creepy time of year when spiders take center stage in the live subject macro world – they’re everywhere, displacing more palatable and photography-friendly bugs like cute little butterflies and lady bugs. But aside from the considerable creep-factor – which virtually precludes their images from ever winning photography contests – spiders make pretty …

Cheers to +Caley Fox and +Shannon Hutchison, two of our Career Training Graduates, who came up with the idea to travel across Canada by bicycle rickshaw to create a "documentary about how Canadians identify with being from here, what it means to be from each province, and what drives people to be kind. It will also contain footage on the highs and lows of getting two massively heavy bikes across the country." They raised money for this adventure through Kickstarter to help fund this passionate idea of theirs. This was an amazing feat and a testament to believing that you can do anything (or almost which is pretty dang good!)

And the idea got started at RMSP! Thanks so much for all your support behind this, it took flight there!

We’ve got some big news for you today, friends! It’s Sarah Chaput de Saintonge, here.

Today marks the first day of new leadership at RMSP. Neil and Jeanne Chaput de Saintonge began our school in 1989 (the first Summer Intensive had eight students in it). RMSP grew and grew. We are happy to say that it is now a thriving educational business founded on offering quality instruction, putting students first, and loving what we do.

Yesterday, Neil and Jeanne passed the directorship of the school to their son, Forest, and their daughter-in-law, me. We have all been planning for this for the last few years; we knew it would happen one day, and decided that now is the best time for the transition to occur.

Forest and I have a passion for teaching photography, for the mission of RMSP, for cultivating community among creatives, and for taking action to accomplish our dreams for the school. We have big plans up our sleeves, and we invite you to follow along as we bring our unique perspectives to photography education.

Thanks for giving your all to RMSP for 27 years, Neil and Jeanne. We’re excited for the future!

Using his determination and magic touch to consistently capture nature at its most raw ... and most beautiful ... Steve Russell shares his latest photo story that aptly depicts both of these aspects. Check it out on the blog! #insectphotography #Canon #naturephotography #dragonflies #photography #RMSP
Nature can be cruel. After living three years in the muck of a marsh and finally crawling out and miraculously exploding out of its larval exoskeleton in the course of an hour, the life of the brown-eyed dragonfly I had been photographing up close was cut short by the beak of a bird. From …
