The article is harsh on Jeff Bezos, but I think the team deserves a bit of fault here too. When I was at Amazon, Jeff would do this too -- we used to call them his fever dreams -- but you could usually fix them if you pushed back hard enough. He'd have a crazy idea with some grain of good idea behind it, you'd not implement literally what he said, but implement something that was closer to the good idea. While it's true you possibly needed to be willing to be fired to be able to stand up to him on something you thought was really wrong, he used to very much respect and listen to people that pushed back hard. Personally, I'd rather go find another job than build something I didn't believe in and thought was going to fail.
