Big expansion at Google Kirkland in cloud computing.  Great to see it, and great for Seattle.

There is an interesting point in the article toward the end.  Amazon expresses willingness to drive prices down and appears to have a bizarrely long leash from shareholders to skip profits (http://goo.gl/pAAhf).  Google may not have the same ability to endure zero or negative margins for a long time.  It's not clear how long Google can play this game or if they can find a compelling change to this game (such as selling the idle capacity on their existing massive cluster, which has marginal costs near zero).

Great news for consumers though.  This battle between Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Rackspace, HP, and others over cloud computing should drive prices down for a long time.
