"One of the biggest problems in organizations is that the meeting is a tool that is used to diffuse responsibility ... Meetings alleviate the anxiety of making tough calls by delaying decisions, instead of making them. Bad meetings also recur because, in many cases, the people leading them don't know how to run a good one."

- I police the meetings I attend fairly heavily (which gets me in trouble now and then). If we're going to take the time to discuss something, then there is going to be an action that comes from that. If we are not going to have any actions from the discussion, then it's time to discuss something that will.
I find it highly disrespectful to waste peoples' time. Talking for an hour with no meaningful output is a waste for everyone.Jan 30, 2015
- Except that lots of employees do not really mind having "their" time wasted. That is the counterpart of all this. If people do not speak up, it is also because getting paid to attend meetings is a great deal.Jan 30, 2015
