I saw that today -- the report that he'd said that was edited and that part is missing without and mention of why or anything.

Stupid effing tech blogosphere crap.

Google plans on killing corporate networks/intranets, exposes themselves as one of the word's biggest Apple consumers.

http://tech.slashdot.org/story/13/12/10/1951250/googles-plan-to-kill-the-corporate-network

Quote: "Google also revealed it was perhaps the biggest Apple shop in the world, with 43,000 devices deployed and staff only allowed to use Windows with a supporting business case."
mask.of.sanity writes "Google has revealed details on its Beyond Corp project to scrap the notion of a corporate network and move to a zero-trust model. The company perhaps unsurprisingly considers the traditional notion of perimeter defense and its respective gadgetry as a dead duck, and has moved ...

I can testify that Windows usage is strongly discouraged. This is especially true in engineering functions.

Very interesting analyais of a particular aspect of 64bit vs 32bit: object allocation/destruction ("memory management") timing.
Apple's announcement that the new iPhone 5s would sport the world's first, commercial 64-bit processor in a phone, the Apple A7, caused a ton of confusion that's still rippling through the internet. Somewhere between dismissal and deification lies the truth - does 64-bit really matter right now, and if so, for whom and how? Mike Ash adds to the answer: Adding it all together, it’s a...

#A7 #64bit optimized apps are starting to roll in
djay 2 and vjay, the epic music and video mixing apps by Algoriddim, have been updated to support the new 64-bit Apple A7 processor in the iPhone 5s. What does that mean for those of us less interested in silicone architecture and more interested in making great music and videos? According to Karim Morsy and Michael Simmons, it means features that simply weren't possible on mobile before. Here are the stats they shared:

I wouldn't let performance alone sway you - the snapdragon 800 will still feel tremendously powerful versus the least common denominator most Android apps are developed to meet.

Try an iDevice out and see how you like it. The apps are a little nicer and faster, but the utilities are a bit less... Utilitarian. Games are way better though. This processor, OpenGL 3.0, and MFi are about to make them better than a traditional handheld by a mile.

But yeah, I'm nuts about my iDevices. Love'em.

Nvidia "Tegra Note" announced -- has an interesting distribution model similar to how they already do video cards. It will be interesting to see what the OEMs do to the reference models.
NVIDIA has taken the wraps off what we once knew as the Tegra Tab this morning and has rechristened it the Tegra Note. Tegra Note is not a device, however; it is a platform. NVIDIA has chosen not t...

for $200 that's not a bad deal. i would definitely consider it when upgrading around the house. i do hope some of the OEM's put more ram in it though. i can live with 720p on 7 inch screen.
