Something I want to reiterate: Unfortunately, the Pope's words and actions thus far are miserably sub-standard. His recent trip to the Philippine's is a prime example, where he reaffirmed the Vatican's destructive doctrines on marriage and contraceptives, and when asked why thousands of small children suffer, this man who speaks for god had no answer. All this in addition to hosting an egregiously anti-intellectual "exorcism conference" at the Vatican last May. So far he's nothing but a nice smile in sensible shoes.

Ah, I see that the Pope doesn't think we should insult religion. Let me be the first to disappoint him.

Juergen Todenhoefer's journey was a tough one: dangerous, but also eye-opening. The author traveled deep into ISIS territory -- their "caliphate."

Just in time for Christmas, yet another scholar doubts the historical Jesus. http://tinyurl.com/le27bd2
There are clearly good reasons to doubt Jesus’ historical existence.

Nurturing this black, jaded, Grinch-heart just became more difficult after watching my oldest son sing Christmas songs with his classmates at Montgomery Park. Curse you, Positive Holiday Vibe, curse you!

Rick Santorum wants to be the next US Prez - and the next Pat Robertson. He's off to a good start on the latter: http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/week-god-12614
Rick Santorum has a bold, new argument: the separation of church and state is not an American principle -- it's a communist principle. Wait, what?

Excellent thoughts by Philosopher Stephen Law: What’s the point of lampooning religion? To upset the religious?

"All coverage of religion is now indistinguishable from an Onion article." -Sam Harris
Pope Francis’ remarks to a distraught little boy whose dog had died have caused a new debate on whether animals have souls, suffer and go to heaven.

Interesting read.
Thoughts on Peter Boghossian’s work and why defeating your opponent isn’t the way forward.
