This is part of a series of stories the +Daily Herald is publishing about the heroin problem in the Chicago suburbs. Please take a moment to read this if you are unfamiliar with heroin or think it is something that can't affect your family.
DuPage County Coroner Richard Jorgensen has taken a lead role in the campaign against heroin in Chicago's suburbs. Here's a look at the problem, as seen through his eyes, and what he's doing to combat it. "It does not embarrass DuPage County to admit that we're like everybody else," he said. "Not addressing it and not trying to fix the problem, that embarrasses DuPage County."

Here's a story I did about my first ride-along with a police officer. It takes a look at how he nabs drivers who are breaking the state's new cellphone law. #dropitanddrive  #phoneinonehandticketintheother
The first thing Brad Bichel notices is drivers weaving out of their lanes. "They look a lot like a drunken driver when they're on their phone, when they're texting," the Lombard traffic officer said. The Daily Herald accompanied Bichel on a recent enforcement patrol. It didn't take long to find violators of the 8-month-old law requiring hands-free use of cellphones.

A friend of mine was stuck in her house in Boulder yesterday because the water in her driveway was so high. But she just texted me to say the sun came out for a bit today and things are looking up!

This year's volunteer staff at the BMW Championship  comes from 23 states and two foreign countries. #golf #BMW #volunteers #LakeForest #NorthShore
While much of the focus at the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest is on the golfers, the unsung heroes of the event are the 1,600 volunteers. This year's volunteer staff comes from 23 states and two foreign countries, Knapp said, though the majority are from the Midwest. “We have a good number of North Shore residents,” she said.
