Enjoying a Diversity of Experiences in Yangon, Myanmar
After landing at the modern airport in Yangon we quickly purchased a sim card with a local phone number. We were told that in the last few years the price of Internet and cell phones have dropped dramatically. One tour guide told us that in the last 10 years mobile phones have gone from costing more then $1000 to now being relatively affordable.

The Buena Park Boulevard of Fun is an entertainment corridor approximately one mile in length along Beach Boulevard, anchored by Knott’s Berry Farm in the south and The Source OC (shopping & entertainment complex) to the north. Long before Buena Park became a mix of both residential and business, this area was home to farms and agriculture including dairy, wine and citrus groves.

Finally it was off to the big time water fight. We loaded a garbage can full of water into the back of a truck – and tied it with suspect looking twine which would probably snap off if the driver braked hard. Knowing full well the dangers associated with driving during the “7 days of death”, a phrase referring to the hundreds of deaths, thousands of accidents and tens of thousands of drunk driving arrests that occur every year during Songkhran (according to numerous online sources) we all sat in the back of the truck and headed down the highway along with thousands of other cars.

Historically April is the hottest month of the year in Thailand. Presumably the warmest days are mid month – conveniently this is when Songkran is held every year.

During a recent visit to Yangon, Myanmar a friend of a friend working in the city informed us about a North Korean restaurant within a 10 minute drive of where we were staying (the Merchant Art Boutique Hotel).
