The lack of clarity around the issue of ‘ghost fishing’ was the topic of discussion at a recent meeting with the Marine Management Organisation - MMO. The MMO met with BSAC, Ghost Fishing - UK, the Global Ghost Gear Initiative and Fourth Element to review and clarify the rules for removing lost, abandoned and discarded fishing gear from UK waters.

Would you know who to call in the event of a diving incident? We know most BSAC divers do, but it's always good to brush up on important knowledge that could effectively save another person's life. http://blog.bsac.com/diving-incident

Happy junior BSAC members this Easter testing out drysuits kindly donated by Aqua Lung UK. The young snorkellers are from Woking Snorkel and Scuba club and they were snorkelling in Littleton Lake, Surrey.
Aqua Lung UK is supporting young people in scuba diving and snorkelling. The drysuits will be held at Woking Snorkel and Scuba Club and used for some club trips to Swanage, Farne islands...wherever adventure takes them! If any clubs wish to use them for a club trip please let us know www.bsac.com/contactus. http://ow.ly/i/uafNZ

Inspired by the Sport England initiative BSAC started a ‘This Girl Can…Dive’ social media campaign. Before we knew it hundreds of women divers were sharing images of themselves doing their ‘diving thing’. It was great. The campaign inspired clubs, members and many other divers to focus on this issue and do something about it. BSAC has more female members than it had a year ago, not a massive amount more, but more, and that can only be a positive thing. So a very big thank you to everyone that got involved.
To celebrate, women and girl divers – share your 'This Girl Can...Dive' pic and / or some words to share why you dive, and nominate friends to do the same. Let’s get even more women and girls diving and 2017…

Share your ‘This Girl Can…Dive’ picture and show women everywhere that #thisgirlcan
Calling all diving girls and women out there - join us in showing others what a great sport diving is to get involved in. Post your ‘This Girl Can…Dive’ pic of yourself and nominate three of your female diving friends to do the same. Together, let’s try to get more women into the sport we love. Some of the BSAC staff are kicking us off with their #thisgirlcandive pics!
