"What is the name of this young lady who was born inside a vegetable? Her name, of course, is Zucchettina."
We take a stroll through just a little of the cultural history of Cinderella, the shoe-wearing, prince-finding, stepmother-vexing heroine who's been around for hundreds of years — at least.

Me, trying really hard to talk about Coherence without mentioning anything that happens in Coherence.
Written by Katherine Murray. Coherence is a triumph of low-budget filmmaking, a reality show about an extreme acting challenge, a disturbing science fiction take on human nature and identity, a fascinating puzzle box, and a movie with a well-written, well-acted female lead.

"It was the most romantic thing he had ever done besides asking a bunch of adults if he could officially call Julie his girlfriend, and the gesture made her bold." Awesome short story by Kathleen Hale.
It was the only sin that Julie had ever prearranged in her entire life.

It's tricky to say whether this could be worse than the fourth one.
We’re guessing Michael Bolton is really excited by this news.

"What really made me sad was the realization that we would not get the opportunity to see Richard Linklater—a filmmaker who has followed his own particular compass for more than two decades, a Baby Boomer who has managed to perfectly capture Gen X angst, and a man who has never seemed to particularly care whether he wins any awards—stand up and be publicly rewarded."

Word. Even though I didn't care for Birdman, I'm okay with it getting Best Director, because it seems like it might be a more outstanding achievement in directing, but I think Boyhood was a more outstanding achievement as a film, and it bums me out that someone could work so hard on something so ambitious for so long, and succeed, and not take home the big awards.
Birdman may have been a deserving winner, but not getting to see Linklater collect either the Best Picture or Best Director Oscar feels ...

Me, talking about Into the Woods a month after everyone else stopped talking about Into the Woods.

I didn't particularly care for the movie, but it's interesting to hear how that went down.
Gillian Flynn discusses the challenges and joys of adapting her workone of the most talked-about novels in recent yearsinto a screenplay.

Me, talking about The 100. Please don't get cancelled, show! #the100
Written by Katherine Murray. Bisexual protagonists, scenes that pass the Bechdel Test, women making choices that drive the action of the story – I'm still the only person who watches The 100, but, boy, do I enjoy it when I do. Eliza Taylor and Alycia Debnam Carey star and kiss in The 100 ...

If anything could almost convince me to watch Agents of SHIELD again, this would be it.
Drea de Matteo will be joining Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. this year as a superpowered enemy with an axe to grind against the titular agency. De Matteo, who won an Emmy for her performance as Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos, will be joining the ABC comic book show as Karla Faye Gideon, apparent

True story: I had never listened to Tori Amos until I read this (oldish) article about why she is uncool, and then I thought, "Yeah, that sounds like something I would like" and it is!

"Selma offers us the reverse of what we’re accustomed to in pop culture, when white (and usually straight, and male) stories are foregrounded and everyone else gets to be the symbol, the sassy friend, the road block, or the wise adviser."

This... is actually not a horrible idea? I mean, I'm surprised to say that, but it's sort of innovative and legitimizes audience participation in storytelling, to a certain degree.
Think you’ve seen the last of the vampire clan? Think again.
