When thinking about the best instructors I've ever had... Gilbert Strang immediately jumps out.

I took his courses in Applied Math for Engineers and Scientists at MIT (18.085 and 18.086) more than 25 years ago... (and thanks to Stan, Irfan and Ali who helped me struggle through!)

I was delighted to find out this morning that at 80 years old, he's still teaching.  And his lectures are online... Check out 18.06, Linear Algebra.

His own passion for the subject and genuine enthusiasm made every lecture seem like a well-edited, carefully crafted PBS Nova episode on each subject.  While I am (sadly) not a gifted mathematician, Strang's lectures helped me deeply deeply get the math, as opposed to just turning a crank and executing an algorithm...

Amazing 3D printing...

3D printing has come a very long way in a very short time.  While in NYC, I happened upon this display at the Uniqlo flagship.  Customers, dressed in Uniqlo clothes, as miniature 4" permanent mannequins.

More about the project here: http://www.theselflessselfieproject.com/

Would you volunteer your likeness to be forever memorialized in a retail display cabinet?!
