Hair loss is not just confined to chemotherapy or radiotherapy, mistakenly thought to be strictly a male problem, actually 1 in 4 women today experience some level of hair loss at some point in their lives.
There are many different causes of hair loss, but it does not matter how much hair the individual has lost, for women it can be absolutely devastating, it can effect self-image, emotional well-being and it can also affect their day-to-day life, that can have a detrimental effect on their personal, home and work life.

People are enquiring as to what is The Rapunzel Foundation and what is required of them to donate hair to The Rapunzel Foundation. The following should answer any questions that you may have.

The Rapunzel Foundation… hair donation
Snips Wigs is registered with the Rapunzel Foundation. The Rapunzel Foundation is a charitable organisation that works to improve the lives of those living with hair loss (Alopecia) through hair donations. Hair is raised through the Rapunzel Foundation’s Ponytail Campaign. People commit to growing their hair 14 inches or longer with the view to their hair being sent to help make much needed wigs to improve the lives of those living with hair loss. It takes between 20 to 25 ponytails to make one wig!

How to donate your hair...

Q How long does my hair need to be?
A Hair needs to be minimum of 14 inches long, preferably one length (no layers).

Q If my hair is coloured can it be used?
A No, unfortunately chemically treated hair cannot be used.

Q Do I send the ponytail to The Rapunzel Foundation?
A Snips Wigs are responsible for sending your ponytail to the Rapunzel Foundation.

Q What do you need to do prior to coming in to us?
A Your hair is required to be washed the day before coming in to donate; unwashed hair will not be cut!

Q Do I need an appointment to donate my hair?
A Yes… you do need to make an appointment to donate hair.

Q What days can I come in to donate my hair?
A The only days that you can donate your hair are Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

All hair donations are free and include a basic cut and or tidying up. If you require a completely new hairstyle there is a charge.
