We have a new logo for BRAWL! Huge thanks to (Secretary) Ben and to Kat for their amazing work in tidying up and smoothing out Lianne's drawing, which was awfully ramshackle. Thanks to everyone who suggested a new logo design, we hope you like what we went with in the end!

Hey guys. Just thought I'd plug my beautiful friend's movember page. He is raising money for cis and trans support groups and for cis and trans victims of sexual violence. As he is unable to grow facial hair at present he is cutting o his own and fashioning a different moustache from it every day.
I understand many of you will be unable to donate what with being poor students and all but this still raises awareness and I think he deserves some kudos for it http://uk.movember.com/mospace/8083201

COST: Members: £2, Non-Members: £3.60

Want to gather your miniatures and do battle? Firestorm has more than enough awesome terrain to accommodate your games. Plus, you don't need to have played any wargames before nor do you need to own any miniatures. You can just turn up and find a game.

Wargames the society mostly plays are Warhammer 40K, Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Infinity. We do have members who play Battlefleet Gothic, Pocket Battles and Mechwarrior Clix, but you may want to check you'll have an opponent first or bring two armies and teach someone a new game! If you play anything more exotic and want to see if you'll have an opponent, please ask below.

MANTIC GAMES DEMO
Mantic Games will demoing some of their awesome games at the event! They'll be bringing Kings of War, Project Pandora, Ultimate Dreadball and Dreadball. All you need to bring (if you have one) is a fantasy or historical army. But if you don't have one, don't panic! They have demo armies/teams, so you can just turn up and have a go.

MORE DEMO GAMES
Pocket Battles - Lianne will be running demo games of Pocket Battles for anyone who hasn't yet learnt this very light but surprisingly strategic war/cardgame hybrid. For those who already know a bit about it, the Roman, Celt, Orc, Elf, Macedonian and Persian armies will be available to mix and match on the day.

More demo games may be available on the day. Watch this space for details.

If you know a wargame that you're willing to teach to others and have enough miniatures to teach newcomers how to play, why not run some demo games for those interested in learning something new? It's great for both the society AND you because if they enjoy themselves, you'll soon have more opponents to play against! If you're interested, please let us know below.

REFRESHMENTS
Firestorm has refreshments available for sale, as well as a licensed bar. More information on this to come!

WHERE: Rooms C, D and B, 4th floor
COST: Members of RAWSoc or Tea Party: FREE,
Others: £2

This is a joint event with the wonderful Tea Party society!
Tea of all varieties, delicious cake and many, many, many boardgames? Sounds like the perfect combo.

ABOUT THE DAY AND BOARDGAMES
Want a day chock-full of board and card games? We've got you covered. RAWSoc has over 200 boardgames at its disposal and will be bringing AS MANY AS POSSIBLE to this event. Our members bring games along too!

Attendees are welcome to bring some games along if they want, but in any case RAWSoc will have a large and varied selection of things you can play (from casual and family games to high strategy) and we're very willing to teach you the rules. Don't be shy!

If there's something you specifically want to play, just ask! We're happy to try and cater for you. Even if it's not on RAWSoc's files, we probably know someone who can bring it. You can see the list of games at our immediate disposal here: http://bit.ly/15ICai9

Come and go as you please or make a gaming marathon of it and stay for the whole event; we’re perfectly happy for attendees to drop in and drop out throughout the day. Anyone is welcome; you don’t have to be a student or member.

REFRESHMENTS (TEA AND CAKE, FIZZY DRINKS)
The Tea Party will be providing tea to taste and cake to eat!

Tea is at the low, low price of 20p for Tea Party or RAWSoc members, 40p for others. There will be polystyrene cups, but you may want to bring your own mug.
Cake will depend on the variety, but is usually priced between 30p-80p (lower end for Tea party/RAWSoc members).

If you want to make some cake for the day, Tea Party will provide you with free tea all day! Please message Lisa (Tea Party President) with details of what you're making.

RAWSoc will be bringing some fizzy drinks cans for those who aren't into tea (heathens!). The price will be a level 50p per can.

All proceeds go to their respective societies to fuel more of the same awesomeness in future.

BRING & BUY
Have you got some board games or other geeky stuff you want to be rid of? Or, looking for a bargain? There will be a Bring & Buy stall on the day. RAWSoc will be bringing along some unwanted stock from its library and you're encouraged to bring anything you want to sell that you think people might like!

Not only do we have a shiny new website thanks to our captive webmonkey +David Nutbourne , we are also actually starting to follow through on our plan to post articles written by our members on it.

Here's the first, an analysis of different models of armour used in roleplaying and wargames by +Kieran Harwood . Come take a look and if you think he's wrong come say so on our forum (or right I guess, but who uses the internet to agree with someone?).

Dragon's Hoard is our monthly boardgaming evening. We play various board and card games from short, light games (like Dixit, Bang! and Mascarade) to longer, heavier games (such as Lords of Waterdeep, Discworld: Ankh Morpork and Dominion). You can see the list of potential games we bring here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjUVPCEepi2cdHlsY2NQb1FSTUszdWFFS2RxTjB3R3c#gid=0

It’s a relaxed and friendly event and a great way to play some new games with some new people or play some old favourites with good friends.

We’re always happy to try and cater for what you especially want to play if we’re able to. Plus, attendees are always encouraged to bring a game or two along, if they can, as it makes for more variety. Those who don’t bring any games are of course also very welcome.

This month we return to The Crofts pub in Roath (subject to confirmation) (http://thecroftspub.co.uk/). We will be in the function room, which can be accessed by going left at the main bar (towards the toilet) and then past the skittle alley.

We play games from 6pm until closing (at around 11pm) and people can drop in and out at any time. All are welcome!

(As members come to these events free and as there are many other benefits, it may be worth becoming a member on the day! http://www.rawsoc.co.uk/becoming-a-member/)

Want a day chock-full of board and card games? All Day Boardgaming is much like our shorter, evening-based Dragon’s Hoard events, but bigger! Attendees are encouraged to bring some games along if they can, but in any case we’ll have a large and varied selection of things you can play (from casual and family games to high strategy) and plenty of people willing to teach you the rules.

REFRESHMENTS
We'll have refreshments to sell on the day. Mostly fizzy drinks (to beat the vending machine prices), but we're hoping to have some snacks too. if you'd like to make something or bring something for RAWSoc to sell on the day, that's great! We usually arrange to pay back the snack-provider for their ingredients/items and the profit goes towards keeping RAWSoc running and awesome. Just let us know if you'd like to get involved.
