New blog!
As a drunk and sincere fan once shouted at Jeff Tweedy between Wilco songs, I too must shout at Ira Glass:  "How'd you get so insightful?!" Behold: "Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. A...

I still appreciate today's Kings of Leon but man was "Youth and Young Manhood" a good record. All loose, tattered, and wild.

Please read this HuffPo article if the title of this post makes no sense to you. One idea I find in most things I've read about happiness is that comparing yourself to the Joneses is the worst thing you can do.  So stop it...

New blog post
Blame it on turning 30, working in tech, getting married, living in Venice, friends with kids, a sudden and inexplicable interest in fish oil and comfortable insoles, or maybe overhearing someone at Coachella refer to Nirvana...

They kind of shot themselves in the foot with a name like "Starfucker" but they're real good. Like Flaming Lips with a little Grandaddy and Spiritualized thrown in.

Zounds! Armada invades the studio in exactly one week and six days. Here's a one-take rehearsal video of one of the tunes.

I took the elephant tour out of Thrissur. My guide, Suresh, was absolutely wonderful--engaging, warm, very knowledgable not only about the animals but their place in Keralan history, and honest about what the life of a festival elephant is like. He spoke fluent English and took me to two very cool hole-in-the-wall restaurants that I never would have discovered on my own. Suresh is great at his craft and a real pleasure to be around!
