We're on count down for our back to back cruises of the eastern and western Mediterranean. 9 countries in 24 days with 17 different ports of call! There are over-night stays in Venice, Istanbul and Barcelona and just to top it off we're arriving in Venice 3 days early.

Surprisingly it is raining in the rainforest, who would have guessed! Though it's lightly raining the temperature is warm, this gentle misting rain referred to as 'kilihune' in the Hawaiian language keeps us cool as we trek deeper into the rainforest.

Today we are going to fly over the active volcano, Kilauea! We're in Hawaii cruising aboard the 'Pride of America' and we pre-booked this shore excursion on-line via the NCL website because we heard that it's very popular and we didn't want to miss out. This particular excursion also includes a picnic by a remote waterfall, it all sounds so exciting.

After paying our respects at the shrine we return to the central viewing platform of the memorial above the USS Arizona and we see tiny droplets of oil bubble to the surface. Oily tears from the remains of this once mighty ship glisten on the water as if to say "Here I am, please don't forget me..."

The sun bursts through from below the clouds lighting up the sky like it was on fire, Darren took a couple of photographs then came and sat with me. At this point in time we were alone and higher than all the other people on Maui, sitting above the clouds on the rim of a dormant volcano watching the sun put on a show just for us...
