We are so accustomed to Newtonian law of gravitation, which actually works very well up to Mpc distances, that the news of this law being NOT universal may seem astonishing. However, it has been recently strictly proven that a physical quantity in GR/cosmology, which may be associated with the gravitational potential, demonstrates Yukawa behavior starting from Gpc scales. In short, the universal gravitation at arbitrary distances should be described by Yukawa law.

Regarding the mentioned article "This Space Mission Could Upend Our Basic Notions of Newtonian Gravity", it is about the Yukawa-type admixture to the Newtonian potential rather than about replacement of the Newtonian potential by the pure Yukawa one. In addition, typical scales are different. The proposed spacecraft would probe gravity at distances of the order of the Solar System dimensions, while homogeneous cosmological background effectively screens Newtonian attraction at much larger, Gpc-distances.25 juil. 2016
