My favorite line in the piece:

Google now strongly recommends—which is a lightly-veiled warning that it’ll be mandatory soon—that every Chromebook include GPS, NFC, compass, accelerometer, a fingerprint reader, and a barometer.

Who ever thought they would need those things in a laptop? I can't wait to see the future!

Walt Mossberg pens his final column.

And it's a keeper.

The venerable tech journalist is signing off after years of being a tech journalistic force to be reckoned with.

Here's how he sizes up the tech scene at the moment and over the next few years.

Yesterday, Google had a link to this right under their search bar on the google homepage. I have a couple of thoughts, one about the content and the other about the medium.

The content is heartbreaking, rich and informative. If you've only been half-way following this story, spend 20 minutes with this collaboration between the United Nations and Google.

Regarding the medium, I'm increasingly convinced that this is how we will be telling stories. We'll still be writing, but we will be thinking of ways to use multimedia and text to enrich these stories. As you read this, consider what it would be like to just read this in a regular blogpost, newspaper article, or website? I suggest that presentations such as these- which aren't hard to make at all- help us learn more and make the learning experience a richer one.

Google's Jamboard is a 4K, internet-connected whiteboard that can sync across dozens of other computer, tablet, and whiteboard screens. We stopped by Google’s New York office to check it out.
