Here's my second position type, with a wider timezone spread for the remote options, and with different languages.

Define the internal API that encapsulates our platform capabilities, and implement services that orchestrate it.  Work for a great company on a good code base with smart, nice, creative people.  For this position, we're open to remote (no more than 5 hours either direction from US Eastern, though Europe may need to time shift a bit).  You'll work in #Ruby , but also be a part of choosing another language--#GoLang?   #Erlang ?  Help decide!

I'm hiring!  I've got two kinds of position, and this is the first I'm posting.

Define and implement core parts of #Heroku’s business logic and its user-facing API. Work for a great company on a good code base with smart, nice, creative people.  We're open to remote in the Americas (no more than 2 hours from US Central timezone), or work in our San Francisco office. #Ruby experience preferred, but not required.  Please apply and share!

Walking up the trail was noticeably different than using a treadmill in an air-conditioned room.

At Canonical, we're looking for a front-end expert to raise our game on the Juju GUI project.  Demo is http://uistage.jujucharms.com:8080/ and Juju info is at https://juju.ubuntu.com/ .

We use YUI 3, so you'd need to come up to speed on that framework, but if you are a JS expert without YUI 3 we're hoping that a lot of your experience would carry over and you'd come up to speed quickly.

This is a home-based position.  The best timezones for our group are in the eastern side of the Americas and the western side of Europe and Africa, though we're considering people just a bit out of that range (such as US West Coast and eastern Europe). Canonical has been a fully distributed development company for many years now, so we have some good skills and best practices as a company to help everyone to get along, feel connected, and feel productive.

The job description is over here: https://ch.tbe.taleo.net/CH03/ats/careers/requisition.jsp?org=CANONICAL&cws=1&rid=482

(It's quite ugly on Chrome with the styling gone, because of a HTTP vs HTTPS issue that I've already raised internally.  Sorry.  Use Firefox, and/or hold your nose.)
