I'm a writer and a professor.  I've published a book of criticism, The Shadow and the Act: Black Intellectual Practice, Jazz Improvisation, and Philosophical Pragmatism (Univ. of Chicago Press, 2009), along with essays, articles, and arts criticism ( in various electronic and print journals, magazines, and newspapers).
