Unless a person is well versed in electronics and physics, it may be difficult to answer the question, "What are LED lights made of?" Actually, a very simplistic short answer would be that LED lights are comprised of light emitting diodes and electrical circuitry that converts energy into visible light. The process is actually a whole lot more in depth than that, so a better question would actually be, "What are LED lights used for?" By understanding their practical applications, and how they benefit is, the question regarding their makeup becomes a moot point. What are LED lights made of? They are made of materials that save consumers money while protecting the environment against the destruction caused by other forms of artificial lights.

LED Lights VS Incandescent Lights
For years, the incandescent light has been an exclusive form of lighting for household use. It's only been in the last couple of decades that other more efficient forms of light sources were harnessed and put to use in home lighting products. Incandescent lighting has a couple of draw backs, primarily the excessive amount of energy it requires to function and the overabundance of heat created in the process. LED lights in contrast use about 80% less energy than incandescent lights do, and they do not become hot, no matter how long they are in use. For these reasons the LED light is virtually taking over the tasks that have always been employed by the incandescent light.

CFL bulbs are compact fluorescent light bulbs that have become quite a big part of household use in the past decade. Fluorescent light sources have been seen for several decades in such applications as commercial lighting. They are the tubular lights that many people see in these buildings, and are often installed under ceiling panels. They were originally developed for energy conservation; however, these bulbs contain mercury and other toxic gasses. Because of the improper disposal of these bulbs that has become a huge concern, LED lights have stepped up in terms of being a safer and more reliable alternative. LED lights also conserve even more energy that the CFL bulbs do.

LED lights have a beautiful and brilliant array of color availability without sacrificing any of the quality of light that comes from other, inferior light sources. In addition, they use an extremely lower amount of energy to operate. They are quickly becoming a favorite among many people.
Although consumers still ask, "What are LED lights made of?" they really should be asking what they are not made of. LED lights do not contain any environmental or health related toxic materials. There are no hazardous metals used in the manufacturing process and they do not contain lethal gasses. LED lights are made of a series of electronic pieces that emit photons (light waves) when energy is introduced to them. They are safe for humans and the environment alike, and are the most energy efficient source of artificial light available. What are LED lights made of? Nothing short of a miracle.
