Help my nonprofit offer free choral workshops in San Francisco!

Lacuna Arts provides opportunities for adult learners of music to experience professional-quality vocal training and to participate in rewarding choral performances. We present four varied and engaging concert programs per season to diverse audiences at a price that is affordable for the general public. Since our inception, no one has been turned away for lack of funds.

"Music touches people's lives. It can help them cope with grief or to express their joy. Our singers and audience members are transformed by the experience of the music-making of Lacuna Arts."

If our 10th Anniversary campaign reaches its funding goal, we will be able to present our educational Summer Workshops in choral singing free of charge as part of our outreach to the community. We will be able to reduce the amount of next season's dues required from chorus members by 30% or more, making our programming more accessible. And we will be able to keep next season's concerts at the affordable price of $18 in advance and $20 at the door.

Come and hear me sing this weekend! Lacuna Arts, a small chamber chorus in which I sing, has two performances coming up, and I'd love to see you there!

Lacuna Arts: Hymns to the Virgin
Victoria’s Missa Ave maris stella, and works by Villette, Górecki, and Pärt

We kick off our 10th Anniversary Season with a performance of Victoria's Missa Ave maris stella, a Mass based on the chant hymn "Hail, Star of the Sea." Appropriately enough, the concert will be held at Star of the Sea Church in San Francisco, which features a generous acoustic as well as a first for Lacuna Arts - ample free parking.

Friday, October 23 at 8:00 pm
Sunday, October 25 at 4:00 pm

Star of the Sea
4420 Geary Boulevard (@ 8th Ave), San Francisco

Tickets $18 in advance via https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hymns-to-the-virgin-tickets-18535840197, or $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available until noon on Friday.

Come and hear me sing! This weekend I'm singing with the Lacuna Arts Chorale under Sven Edward Olbash in a performance of Stanford’s monumental Magnificat in B-flat for unaccompanied double choir. Reminiscent of the motet Singet dem Herrn by J.S. Bach, this virtuosic work is dedicated to C. H. H. Parry whose own masterful Songs of Farewell complement the program.

Here's a preview of of Stanford's Magnificat from rehearsal last night.

Friday, May 15, 2015 8PM

I did wonder if I was tempting fate by posting Sir Patrick Stewart's Ice Bucket Challenge video. And sure enough, Emily stepped up and challenged me. Well, here's my response, from the bar as promised, albeit a day late: http://youtu.be/scs33tXMPSs ‪#‎IceBucketChallenge‬ ‪#‎StrikeOutALS‬

For my part, I challenge +James Reynolds+Richard Jackson and Michael Larsen. Your 24 hours starts now.
