To my US friends, if you are reading about SOPA/PIPA today and want to help out, here's how:

Use this website (www.stopthewall.us) and call your Senator. Yes, really call. It will take 5 minutes.

Why? Senators do not watch Facebook, Google+, web forums or really many online news feeds to figure out how their constituents feel about an issue. Emailing them helps but few Senators actually read their own email. Senator's do care about what the people voting for them think, they just are used to listening to lobbyist and large donors.

By calling, you get a direct line to their staffer to whom you can explain that you are in their district, you are watching this issue, and you are against PIPA (please be polite to them though). Calling also ties up a limited resource in the Senator's office. So at the end of the day when the Senator asks why certain things didn't get accomplished, the staffers will say "Our phone lines were tied up with people stating that they are against PIPA". That is how we can get our opinions across.

The call will take 5 minutes and doing it today, along everyone else and all the press going on, will have the biggest impact.

Even better, delay your phone call for tomorrow or Friday when the ruckus from the blackout has mellowed a bit and your call is more likely to be heard. Just don't forget to actually call.

Going to be in Hong Kong at the end of this year, from Dec 26-Jan 2. Is anyone else going to be there then? Or any suggestions for activities?

Well done everyone!

The SOPA/PIPA bills are put on hold right now which is great, but we still need to watch out for these bills coming back when the attention is off of them. Next step, we'll see if Hollywood and Congress really do want to sit down and talk about these issues, for reals this time.

But the Internet finally flexed its muscles and showed the world what it could do, fantastically fun to witness!

I knew it!! Been saying it for years and you all thought I was crazy: Pizza is a vegetable due to the tomato sauce on it. Congress has finally realized this fact (helped by 5 million from the frozen food industry) and kids will continue to be served pizza for school lunches as a vege. I know what I'm having for dinner tonight, full helping of deep dish vegetables.

I don't leave reviews very often since I like to save effort for those places that really earn it. MakeSpace is awesome. They have a super helpful product and they're putting in the effort to make the customer happy. Two huge things that I love about MakeSpace: The product does exactly what I need and for a great price. I have a tiny apt in NYC with only one closet. I still have lots of things like seasonal clothes, skiing gear, old stuff, etc that I'd like to keep. MakeSpace to the rescue! I'm currently keeping 5 boxes and an office chair in storage with MakeSpace which comes out to be about $50 a month. That might seem like a lot, but the way the product works I've effectively bought myself an entire additional closet in my apt. So when $50 is compared to my NYC rent, the amount is much better. The second is that these guys pull out all the stops to make the customer happy. For instance, once I decided to go on a last minute trip for the weekend, but I needed snow gear. Thursday afternoon I log onto the site to order a dropoff for Friday morning since we were leaving in the afternoon, but the soonest I could get my boxes was Saturday. Shoot, I needed that stuff...but I used the chat feature on their site and asked if there was any way to get my box before Friday afternoon telling them why. By the end of the day, the box was at my door. They even worked around my schedule for going in and out of my apt that day. This allowed me to get to the trip and honestly feel like I have access to my stuff whenever I want. I should have planned a bit better but it was great that these guys were understanding and accommodating. So I highly recommend MakeSpace if you need to buy an additional closet. This isn't for things you use all the time, but its perfect for stuff you know you'll need a day or two in advance. Since they just show up at your door its effectually the same, but you don't have to think about or see the stuff in the meantime.
