Our party of four dined here on a Saturday night. The food and service was phenomenal. Our waiter was very attentive and explained their menu options and ingredients they use at the Root. We were very impressed they always use fresh ingredients, and meals are created from scratch. Great vegan options too. From our appetizers to our dessert the meal was amazing. We appreciated that their manager stopped by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal and if we needed anything. Highly recommend the Root for a dining experience you won't find anywhere else in the area.

Apparently this restaurant used to have great food but definitely not anymore. Me and 7 other family members went out to eat and not one of us enjoyed our dinner. The waitress took quite awhile to take our orders to begin with. The appetizers were nothing special with ridiculously small portions. I ordered the meatloaf and felt it was too salty and nothing special. It came with some strange sauce on it that had little flavor. My grandmother ordered the pad thai and hardly ate any of it. 2 people ordered the fish special and in addition to both of them not liking it, one got about half the amount of fish that the other received. The "miso soup" tasted like beef bullion soup. I heard that the chef opened another restaurant elsewhere which may explain why the food has gone downhill. Other members of my family have been here and said it used to be great. Its safe to say that none of us will be going back. DO NOT be fooled the by the good reviews! I have eaten at many upscale restaurants throughout my life and this is certainly not one of them, would give 0 stars if I could.

Absolutely phenomenal food and service. Very unique place for suburban Michigan. No matter what time of day you go, you will have a variety of options and all of them will be stellar.

Sloppy joe is ok Burger was pretty good but literally paid $21 and some change for a burger and fries. That was the most expensive burger I ever ate and not even close to being the best. My $12 white ale sour beer was fantastic but not at $12.

The rib eye was delicious and not a bad price. The tandoori chicken, on the other hand, seemed expensive for what you got. It certainly would not be enough to fill me up by itself. They have a great selection of Michigan beers at reasonable prices.

Food here has always been good, but I do have to say that I prefer the old brunch menu, but the drinks here are definitely something you have to experience. Everything is fresh and the waitstaff as well as the bartenders are all very knowledgeable and friendly.

The reviews saying it's overhyped almost turned me away, but I live nearby and thought it was my duty to know what it's like, so I went. The ambiance is very on-point. Being inside it is like another world. Very nice. The drinks and food are pricey, but you can get by with their cheapest drink, miller high life for $3, on the regular menu, if you must. The food is going to vary a lot. The menu probably changes regularly, as the chef and head cook are both working to offer creative and expressive things. They are named on your menu, so there is a person's reputation behind every meal. My personal experience was with the taco tuesday tacos, which I plan to enjoy every week if possible. Spicey, but I could handle it, and I loved them at $2 each. We then ordered a chicken cacciatore, which I personally was very, very impressed with. Very. To me, it was a work of art. 26 dollars, but we split it because we are kind-of dieting, so we walked out with a grand total 30 dollar bill and could still tip well and call it a deal :)

MEDIOCRE food, expensive prices. We decided to try this place because of all the great reviews. We don't mind spending a good amount on a meal if it's going to be delicious, however, this food was mediocre at best. We got the fresh fish entree (herb crusted salmon) and the pork dinner followed by the chocolate burrito for dessert. Both entrees and the dessert were lacking in flavor. Nothing special at all. Bill was $64 and we just had water to drink. Service was also mediocre... long wait to take our order, no fresh pepper offered, let our waters get nearly empty, no offer for bread refill, etc... Not impressed at all. We won't be going back.
