IMPORTANT for those freelancers covering the ‪#‎RNC2106‬

The NPPA will also be working with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in staffing a 24-hour a day hotline providing free legal aid to journalists facing arrest, detention or other such problems while covering the political conventions, or any protests or other events affiliated with the conventions. The hotline attorneys will also work with attorneys from who will be present in the convention cities, and will attempt to coordinate activities with other legal assistance organizations in both cities. That toll-free number is 800-336-4243. Lawyers can also be reached via email at hotline@rcfp.org and via Twitter @rcfp and @nppalawyer.

"Instead of trying to make photos that a lot of people see, getting caught up in the “popularity contest” side of things, you should be striving to create “work that matters” — “creating something that means something.”

Introduction

I am photographer specializing in documentary, editorial and reportage, covering current national and international events while also pursuing personal documentary projects. Born (1974) in El Salvador, Central America and then immigrated to the United States during the mid-1980’s settling in Los Angeles, California where I attended California State University, Northridge, obtaining a B.A. in Arts with an emphasis in Interior Design. Upon graduation, I applied my skills to photography and have since developed a vocation as a photojournalist,

Over the course of my career I photographed many recent political, social, environmental,  health, human rights and conflict  issues  in Latin America, Middle East and Europe, focusing on under-reported issues and long-term projects, including the ongoing post-conflict situation in my native country of El Salvador.

As a freelancer I have carry out assignments, reportage and stories for many of the leading publications. Nowadays, I am based between San Francisco, California and San Salvador, El Salvador, but always moving.

As a freelancer I have carry out assignments, reportage and stories for many of the leading publications such as Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, Stern, The New Review, The Daily Mail, Elle, Financial Times, Washington Post, Nouvel Observateur, FLYP Media, La Croix, The London Paper, DW (Deutsche Welle), The Independent, Focus, Kosmos Journal, Qué Pasa, The Calgary Herald, The San Francisco Examiner, Fronteras de la Noticia, Tele7, Financial Post, Enfoque, Alianza News, The Globe 7 Mail, The Chronicle of Philanthropy among others.
