What are the best tourist-y things to do in the San Francisco bay area? I have family visiting this weekend and want to show them a good time.

A cruise on bay :-) I did that last Friday and it was totally worth it.

Muir Woods
Alcatraz Night Tour
Drive down Lombard Street hairpin turns
Dolores Park peoplewatching
Exploratorium if w/ kids

For sure have them do the fireengine tour over the golden gate . We loved it. Catch it at the giradelli choc factory. Sweetest couple runs it!

De Young, Academy of Science, The Japanese Tea Gardens, Exploratorium and Palace of Fine Arts, The Haight, Brunch at The Cliff House on the ocean and see the old baths ruins, bike the Golden Gate Bridge, eat burritos and Bi-Rite ice cream in Dolores Park, take them for cocktails at Wilson and Wilson the private detective agency in Bourbon and Branch, drive through golden hate park and see the buffalo, alcatraz.

Avoid: Pier 39- tourist trap and nothing of actual interest, The F-Market muni cars total Hell in the summer time.
