appallingly bad service - they lied directly to my face. i went to pick up a frame, which was not ready. thinking i could not speak spanish, i guess, they discussed amongst themselves what to do, as they did not have the material necessary. i told them i understood and that i would prefer to wait for the material. they told me not to worry, that i had misunderstood. when i went to collect later, the had subsituted a completely different frame. i realise that there was a cultural mismatch here, and that i should have been smarter, perhaps suggesting an alterantive instead of being direct. but to lie so completely was a real, physical shock. i've lived here for many years and this is, as far as i can remember, the worst service i have ever had.

btw, i'm not using this place (except when needed for work) until the "nymwars" stuff is cleared up.

Se Vende Raspberry PI B

$18.000 (CLP).

If anyone is interested, I annotated some of the Clojure code I've been working on the last few days - I don't promise it's idiomatic, but I've tried to highlight what I think is the "Clojure approach". If you know better, please correct me...! http://acooke.org/cute/ExampleClo0.html

breaking radio silence to say that manning (publishers of joy of clojure) have a half price sale this weekend - use code "halloweekend45" (it appears to work - i just ordered a copy myself, for delivery to the usa (visiting next month))

it's ok, as you know always the medias (chilean tv for example) show just violence, but almost never show the positive things.

so what happened to the dow as it opened? looking at the bbc's delayed summary, it seems like the winners/losers are real time and boa is up 7%.
ah, google seems to have some real-time data http://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=INDEXDJX:DJI

as it says in spanish below, this is shown in the wrong place on google maps. it is not in providencia, but in central santiago (near the bellas artes metro station!). it's a nice musem - not really "world class" (doesn't have much by famous dead european guys - but if you're looking for famous international, modern work try museo de la solidaridad), but a beautiful building, some good chilean work (a storming mata) and a good selection of exhibitions (the little shop and cafe are ok too). round the back, the MAC (comptemporary art) is more variable - sometimes pretty bad, but sometimes awesome.
