appallingly bad service - they lied directly to my face. i went to pick up a frame, which was not ready. thinking i could not speak spanish, i guess, they discussed amongst themselves what to do, as they did not have the material necessary. i told them i understood and that i would prefer to wait for the material. they told me not to worry, that i had misunderstood. when i insisted i had heard correctly they swore they had the material and not to worry. but when i went to collect later, the had substituted a completely different frame. i realise that there was a cultural mismatch here, and that i should have been smarter, perhaps suggesting an alternative instead of being direct. but to be lied to so completely was a real, physical shock. i've lived here for many years and this is, as far as i can remember, the worst service i have ever had.

as it says in spanish below, this is shown in the wrong place on google maps. it is not in providencia, but in central santiago (near the bellas artes metro station!). it's a nice musem - not really "world class" (doesn't have much by famous dead european guys - but if you're looking for famous international, modern work try museo de la solidaridad), but a beautiful building, some good chilean work (a storming mata) and a good selection of exhibitions (the little shop and cafe are ok too). round the back, the MAC (comptemporary art) is more variable - sometimes pretty bad, but sometimes awesome.
