Q & A with a new owner of the Kanstul Bb Trumpet Chicago Series Model 1070S, Chris Selley - Professional musician and itinerant teacher based in Wellington 🎺

Q: How long have you been playing trumpet? - 42 years

Q: How often do you practice? - Pretty much every day. Occasional rest day when needed.

Q: Why did you select this Kanstul trumpet 1070? - Primary trumpet for 30 years was a CG Benge. Showing signs of age & use (the trumpet, not me). Really wanted a similar light weight, large bore trumpet, so after plenty of research, the 1070 was the way to go.

Q: What do you like about the trumpet? - Free blowing. Pitch/intonation spot on. The CG3 mouthpiece which came with the instrument is a perfect match. Tried the horn with my normal mouthpieces (14a4a being my main one), but for sound over the whole range, the CG3 won through. Great matchup. Shows the thought Kanstul put into their products.

Q: Any gigs are coming up? - The Wellington Mingus Ensemble, David Feehan Band, Rodger Fox's Wellington Jazz Orchestra

Thank you, Chris !
