BE AWARE: Unfair billing practices!!! I took my daughter to the Northwest Emergency Center because she had a cut on her forehead and I was concerned she may need stitches. We were promptly taken into a room, and the doctor soon came in. After looking at the wound the doctor stepped out for a couple minutes then returned, cleaned the wound off and put two steri-strip bandages on her head. After completing the paperwork we were released. The entire visit lasted about 45 minutes of which the doctor spent less than 5 minutes with us, we spent 10 minutes doing paperwork, and the rest of the time we waited. Recently I received two bills for the service. One bill from Northwest Tucson Emergency Physicians was $663.00. The other bill was from Northwest Medical Center was $1600.47 for a total of $2263.47 for the aforementioned services. My insurance did cover a portion of the cost ($979.47) however the remaining balance is still excessive for the services received. The aforementioned businesses have exploited my emergency situation and charged an unfair rate for the services received. I am completely willing to pay a fair price for the services received however my attempts to contact both businesses to reconcile the balance have gone unacknowledged. I've submitted my complaint to the Attorney General's office. It is an unfair business practice to take advantage of someone's emergency situation and charge exorbitant fees.
