I had told you all a while ago that digital fingerprinting to track you all would be coming soon, and NOW here it is... - I have tested the proof of concept by Yinzhi Cao, Song Lu and Erik Wijmans and I can say they ain't near solving the fingerprinting the computer instead of the individual browser. Even if using only hardware related tests to generate the finger print, it still do generate unique fingerprints for all the browsers I have tested on (firefox, seamonkey, chrome, chromium, konqueror, opera), as there are still differences to how browsers access the hardware and what limitations they impose. For example the audio quality differs between Mozilla and Chrome browsers.
Looking at plugins/fonts you get different list on both depending on browser as you have plugins which work on browser A but not on B and C may have a plugin preinstalled which overrides the system plugin.
Canvas fingerprinting is one of the easiest to block nowadays and it also do give different fingerprints on different browsers.
In some cases you may make an educated assumption that the browsers are run on the same computer.14w
This in combination with electronic signatures are a 99% success rate. I have been on this research for quite some time.14w
