Oh! Look at that Big Data: the backlash begins

It sums up what I've been saying for over a year... but it was too counter-trend to publicly shout it - it would have sounded like a "weak" positioning to say so... so it was only discussed internally and in private communications with thought leaders. Don't get me wrong, there are good use of Big Data... and there are marketing abuse and those blindly jumping on the Big Data bandwagon. I'm glad +Cardinal Path took a more reasonable and sound approach to our Big Data practice.

Maybe not the right place (again) but I posed a similar question a few weeks back and you guys were a big help:
I've just found a client site that is being effected by the "mozilla compatible agent" bug in Analytics, it's skewing the bounce rate and some of the other metrics too.
I've read a few for and against articles on filtering out this traffic here:
http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/have-you-seen-this-google-analytics-bug
and here
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6121849/customer-filter-for-google-analytics-mozilla-compatible-agent-iphone

What do you guys think? To filter or not to filter?

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but the Analytics communities aren't as good as this one. I have a site that saw a 50% upturn in direct traffic last week, normally I'd expect this to be the result of a press mention, but if that were the case I'd expect to see a corresponding jump in traffic from branded organic and PPC; these were flat.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there any way that other traffic sources can be misreported as direct?

Top Tip:
If you get too many emails at work, simply forget to set the MX records properly when moving your website to a new server.

Quick question on authorship, I understand how it works for personal content on blogs and so forth but what about for business and ecommerce sites? I've created business pages on G+ and linked them to the sites with the rel=publisher tag but I don't want to link the sites to client's personal profiles, it's ok to do this for small businesses but what would you do for a larger business?

Does anyone know if it's possible to set the threshold where +Google Ads alerts you that your balance is low?
