While on the other side of the world there was no trace of knowledge, #education
, and learning, #Islam
and the #Quran
started with ‘read!’ (The first word revealed to the #Prophet
was ‘iqra,’ meaning ‘thou read!’), swearing on the pen and the scripture. Islam ordered Muslims to release those amongst the war prisoners who could teach people to read. This dates back to 14 centuries ago. The same measures by the Prophet (as) and Islam lead the most primitive society of then to the point where the greatest titles and honors in the academia and knowledge were given to Muslim scholars of the time such as #Avicenna
, Mohamad bin Zakaria, #Biruni
, and others at a time when in #Europe #science
had no place. That is, in the eve of Islam, the campaign against illiteracy pushed the Islamic society of the time seven or eight centuries ahead of other civilizations.
However, Muslims suffered setbacks and indolence leading to the current status; nevertheless, we can begin once again. Iran formed the Islamic Revolution in order to bring Islam back in work so that gaining knowledge upturns. Now illiteracy is no more an issue.
