We're not sure that you can MAKE kids love science, but these do seem pretty good.
These kids’ books spark science curiosity with playful illustrations and facts to match.

Professor Jo Boaler says students most effectively learn "math facts" working on problems they enjoy, rather than through exercises and drills they fear. Timed testing and blind memorization damage children's experience of math, she says.

Were you a scientist in school?
Did you participate as a student in a Scientists in School workshop? (program began in Durham Region, Ontario in 1989. Today, we provide classroom workshops from Ottawa to Niagara Region and in Southern Alberta)
If yes, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking for adults who had Scientists in School in their classroom as a kid and who are willing to share about their experiences and what it meant to them.
Please email: gale dot davy at scientistsinschool dot ca and put SiS alumnus in the subject line. We'll send you back a questionnaire.

Amazing photos.
Canada is a massive country, yet it has one of the lowest population densities in the world. Despite this, Canadians have made a wide impact on their land, much of it visible from aerial and satellite photography. Hydroelectric facilities, roads, mines, farms, ports, resource exploration, logging, canals, cities, and towns have altered much of the landscape over the years.

Strange jobs = great stories!
Research relies on unsung heroes working behind the scenes — and some of them have rather unusual jobs.

If you've ever been a part of a Scientists in School workshop, as a teacher, a parent, or as a student, you know the absolute joy our young scientists feel as they learn through discovery.
On Giving Tuesday Canada, share that joy so that all children, regardless of economic circumstance, may be inspired by science: bit.ly/1v9s9al

A leading Canadian science outreach charity, igniting scientific curiosity in children.
Introduction
Scientists in School - www.scientistsinschool.ca - is a leading science outreach charity dedicated to sparking children's interest in science, technology and the environment through hands-on discovery.

At the heart of Scientists in School's work are our award-winning, inquiry-based workshops for Kindergarten through Grade 8 students. With Scientists in School, students become scientists in their school and are able to see, touch and do science using specialized equipment and materials, all under the guidance of real science experts from their communities.

Our mission is to ignite scientific curiosity in children so that they: question intelligently, learn through discovery, connect scientific knowledge to their world, and consider a career in science.

Each year, Scientists in School presents over 22,000 half day workshops in classrooms throughout Ontario and in Alberta, inspiring more than 600,000 elementary students. Scientists in School's nearly 400 presenters are trained science professionals who bring unmatched passion and expertise to their communities. Scientists in School unites the science, education and business communities in the common goal of raising science literacy and encouraging our future innovators.
