It's almost the end of year! Why not write an End of Year Post?

Thank you so much to +Jim Walker The Hacker Repair Guy.  He did a fabulous job of cleaning up a hacking mess that a brand new client had on his site. Jim gave my client a thorough report and quickly found the initial source of the hack (Gravity Forms had not been updated). Lessons to be learned: backup, update those plugins and WP, learn as much as you can about web security, install security measures, and if all goes wrong, contact Jim.

Got a website?  What are some of the benefits of a test site?  Test sites are great for WordPress, Drupal or any other content management system.  This post focuses on WordPress.

Sometimes life feels a bit like this Gerber daisy ... it tries so hard to unfold into a beautiful bloom.  Too much heat, too cold too soon, or not enough water may prevent it.  What's blooming in your world?

Last week there was an update to WordPress.  Did you have any problems?  What are your experiences with updates in general?  Do you feel you need to know more?

I tried to leave a comment on +A.K. Andrew 's post, but it seems the comments went fishing.  At least, until fall.  Good ideas: gardening, painting, writing a story, photography.  I will add: sewing (my newest pastime). Thanks to A.K. for the mention of of my watercolors.

Remember #Mobilegeddon ? Seems like it ^did* indeed have an influence.  See +Mark Traphagen 's post.
MOBILEGEDDON: Non-Mobile Friendly URLs Show Nearly 50% Ranking Drop!
See Our Just-Published Before & After Study

+Eric Enge at +Stone Temple Consulting pulled ranking data on the top 10 mobile results for 15,235 search queries the week of April 17th (before the so-called #Mobilegeddon  Google update rollout), and again the week of May 18th. We pulled ranking information, and also identified whether or not the URLs in the results were designated as Mobile Friendly by Google or not.

Because of the size and methodology of our study, we were able to show the real change that the Mobile Ranking Update brought about that other, smaller and more anecdotal studies missed.

Read the complete study at http://stonet.co/MobilegeddonStudy

If you find this information useful, please reshare it! Thanks!

One thing I love about photography - one can take a ten minute break to photograph sage flowers, post the photo, then continue with one's day!  Do you grow any herbs?  Any urge to photograph spring blooms at this time of year?
