Food is amazing. Cute decor. You may be asking why the hate and bad rating? Someone on staff stole our credit card information and charged $8,000 to various locations in Rio. BEWARE! Do not go to ZAZA!

Wanted to love it...but food fell short...especially at high end prices. Between the great reviews and how incredibly charming the place is and the great menu descriptions, we were super excited to eat here. Unfortunately, the food and service missed the mark. The trio of warm apps were all bland tasting and heavily fried. The trio of cold apps was better, but not great. Finally, the beet risotto was overwhelmingly cheesy and risotto itself was overcooked. They even brought out the wrong drink and made a mistake on the bill (charged us for an extra drink) and then took over 20 minutes to fix the mistake. This is too expensive of a place to justify going here again.

Food was exceptional, creative cocktail list (although a bit heavy on the Absolut Vodka concoctions), good atmosphere, and people watching one block off of Ipanema Beach. Highly recommend the tuna tartare appetizer, spicy margarita, and lamb risotto entree. Waiters were friendly but speak very little English. Only accepts cash and MasterCard for some reason.

This is a fantastic restaurant! It has a warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. If you are in Ipanema, you need to eat here. We, a group of six, walked from our hotel and enjoyed some drinks out front while we waited for a table. We sat upstairs, where we ate sans shoes while seated at a table that was very low to the floor. It was a very cool experience. Everything we had was good, from the grilled fish to the curry to the pork ribs to the dessert and espressos. It came highly recommended, and it lived up to the hype.

The food, cocktails + the interior of the restaurant = fantastic experience. We had the spicy coconut chicken and the picania, both delicious. Highly recommended!

Summary: funky corner bistro with great menu. Worth the cost. Pros: fun Bohemian decor, perfectly grilled octopus / squid, sliver view of Ipanema beach. Cons: tiny tables with uncomfortable chairs.
