Too family oriented for my particular likes. The naked babies on the beach were amusing only for a short while... as were the large numbers of screaming happy kids! This may be just what you are looking for for family fun... but not too relaxing for the adult crowd. I was upset that the pool area was crowded and the only chairs to be found were at the beach where you had to pay thirty bucks each day for two chairs and an umbrella. Shouldn't resort seating be included in the price?

Excellent staff, nice room. Seems like an older hotel but overall we enjoyed it. Thank you

Great beach access and amenities for the family, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Definitely an older crowd during our stay, and felt at times that we were being judged for having a 2 year old with us. Great spot for access to local attractions and restaurants in Kona, and if you never leave the beach - pretty nice snorkeling right near the hotel. Not the best, the reef is a bit torn up, but I saw tons of reef fish and a sea turtle within the first 10 minutes within 50 yards of the beach!

This was my first hotel in Hawaii. And I liked the stay very much. They had the most comfortable beds of all hotels I stayed at in Hawaii. Also, the breakfast buffet is excellent. It costs around $20 a person, but compared to other Marriott resorts in the state of Hawaii, that is cheap. If you're on vacation, I recommend you stuff your face with papayas as much as you can. So tasty is this fruit, it alone may justify the buffet price. What is good about this hotel is its location in the center of this little town. You can walk to stores and restaurants in just minutes. I wish I stayed there more than 3 nights. In previous reviews I noticed a couple of complaints which I'd like to address. 1) Paid parking - most hotels in HI do it, and $12 is really not a lot compared to other hotels. 2) Smoking ban - standard policy of ALL Marriott hotels which became a 100% smoke-free chain about two or three years ago.

This is a nice hotel with great staff. The snorkeling beachside is very good too. Nice size gym and pool area. Nice spa with yoga classes! Convenient location to shops, restaurants and near-by attractions. This would be a 4-5 star review except their wi-fi drove me nuts! Terrible connectivity and speed, just worthless. I was also here for business and needed to work, the room desk doesn't have a phone or outlets. These basics are simple accommodations and should not be overlooked in 2015! For these shortfalls alone, you should have 2 stars but you get an extra star because it's Hawaii. Fix your basics!!!

Stayed here multiple times and days. Great location, but the rooms felt run down - moldy smell in one of the rooms. Staff was mediocre. Food at the restaurant was poor. Amenities poor.

Big, family oriented resort with a variety of great things to offer. We did an extended family get together here and enjoyed it. There are a lot of options to enjoy, the beach in front is calm and beautiful

We have stayed here 3 times in the past 2 years. The staff is attentive and helpful. The rooms are nice, furniture in good condition. The buffet is yummy. The price may scare some people but the variety is good and if you love crab, all you can eat (!) it is well worth it. The hotel is located right in downtown Kona at the north end of the main ocean front street. The hotel has it's own little beach, a spa, outdoor pool and lava hot tub, a fitness room and an outside bar/restaurant. There is an ABC convenience store at the corner of the property too. There is a fee for parking but that is true of many hotels throughout the islands. The hotel is located right next to the bay where you can swim the iron man course or snorkel next to the sea wall. The water can be a little cloudy at times but the closeness to the hotel makes it very convenient and the variety of fish is decent. There are showers on the dock and you can leave your clothes in the cubbies without fear of things wondering off. The waterfront shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. The last time we went, we didn't even rent a car. There are taxis available and a bus and trolley that take you south 7+ miles for a reasonable price. Quality and convenience make this our go to place in Kona.
