Best organic, gluten free, soy free food I've found in the Seattle area! Very elegant setting in an old house. Superb food! It was a little chilly inside, but had a very fun and unique feel. Portion sizes are a bit small, but very very delicious. I highly recommend trying it out.

Good food and courteous service that was completely disorganized and incredibly slow. They forgot to put our appetizer order through. We had to ask for enough hot water for three people for our tea. My turkey burger was delicious, but when our order finally arrived the sweet potato fries were stone cold. I told them they were cold and they brought me a replacement plate of hash browns! I didn't bother to correct them and just ate the average tasting hash browns. Every stage of the order took way longer than necessary. We ordered two desserts and getting that served took forever even though the restaurant was almost completely empty by then. They brought our check but forgot to provide a pen to sign the bill. Our waiter was very nice but clueless. I cannot recommend this place for the experience, but hopefully with a review like this it will improve, because the food was excellent (but very slow)

Disappointing, read the previous reviews. They rated high but had nothing good to say....i wish i had read them before we went.

We were so excited to try Hugo's, but were sorely disappointed. We need more restaurants that serve local, organic, foods, but at the cost of Hugo's the service and taste should be much better. All of our food was bland and not hot. Nothing bugs me more then food that is not served hot. Some of my vegetables were cold and my steak was lukewarm and unseasoned. The service was just okay. The server was friendly enough, but told me the soup was pureed vegetable. When it finally arrived, after I ate my steak, it turned out to be lentil. I can guarantee that all three of us who went tonight have no intention of going back. BTW...we had to stop at Whole Foods afterwards because my husband was still hungry. $36 for a bland, lukewarm steak is annoying and only left me dreaming of Jak's.

It is deeply disappointing that I write this review. Our family has been working with food allergies and sensitivities for over 20 years, so to have a potentially awesome restaurant serve normal food in a way we could actually enjoy without being concerned got us pretty excited. Unfortunately, here are the major issues: 1. Poor service. 3 people we serving a small space. I asked four times for two more place settings since we had 6 in our party and there were only 4 places set. We had 5 glasses on the table. I had to ask 3 times to get another glass for our sixth person. Then they brought me two glasses. I have no idea why. They promptly dropped off two glasses (so now we have 7 glasses), but never came to fill them with water. Whenever someone in our group asked for something, one of the helper people would always put that thing requested in front of me...I guess so that I could always pass it on to the person at our table who requested it. super weird. I could go on with this, but it was 2 hours of just wishing the service foibles would end. 2. Food: meh. It seemed they had some interesting flavors and ideas. Presentation was pretty good actually. But all our food came to us warmish, or not warm at all. Again, they couldn't keep straight who actually ordered what. The coffee was tasteless. It took foreeeeever for us to get our food. 3. Price: I got a very small omelet for $20. I guess it had gouda cheese on it, but seems like more than the cheese was worth. But the grilled salmon burger was only about $12, and seemed pretty good. Overall, after seeing what we got for the price we paid, we decided that $12 for a 1.5" square brownie was going to be over the top for us, and just got the heck out of there. I gave an obligatory 15% tip, but that was hard to give based on all the above. We couldn't wait to get out, and were so incredibly disappointed that we could not recommend this to any of our other friends with similar food sensitivities. We sincerely hope that the management team sees this and takes it for what it is really meant for: feedback to make the place better. We really want to see something like this work on the eastside...but you really need to earn it.
