Welcome to the 7TH ANNUAL ONE-YEAR LATER AWARDS!

Yes, a little late, but they're finally here, the OYL AWARDS, where we get to honor the BEST IN CINEMA, not from this past year, but the YEAR BEFORE. As always, we take our time, watch everything we can, let our thoughts on the films of the year mature, and then AWARD the VERY BEST. Conan O'Brien is back as host, and we have two new categories this year, making the OYLS bigger than ever. Time to open the ENVELOPES (The correct ones...) and reveal the WINNERS of the 7TH ANNUAL OYL AWARDS! Thank you.

Hey Everyone,

I mentioned this on Twitter, but I'm behind on everything, so we're gonna do another CANON OF FILM post again to tithe over. It's a NEWLY-WRITTEN one though, and let's see, what's something I haven't done yet....? (Flips through script reader's genre list a few times.) Ooh, I don't have an INSPIRATIONAL TEACHER film yet. Well, I'll need to correct that, but there's a bunch of those. (Sigh) What's the one that TEACHERS like the most? Yeah, we're doing that one. From Director RAMON MENENDEZ, and starring EDWARD JAMES OLMOS, LOU DIAMOND PHILLIPS, and ANDY GARCIA in one of America's best LATINO films. If you're gonna teach, you gotta "STAND AND DELIVER" So, check it out Everyone and I hope you all enjoy it. Thank you.

CANON OF FILM: "STAND AND DELIVER"
STAND AND DELIVER (1988) Director: Ramon Menendez Screenplay: Ramon Menendez and Tom Musca It’s easy to make fun of and parody the amazing great teacher narrative trope, but honestly, it usually works. There’s several good examples, “Goodbye, Mr. Chips”, “T...

Hey Everyone,

It's the latest edition of our CANON OF FILM posts, and, I felt like I needed to add another FRANCOIS TRUFFAUT film. It was just noticeable how few there were so, let's go with the most fun one. The most ROMANTIC one. The one that's still TRAGIC, but probably represents the best of the FRENCH NEW WAVE at it's most fun. Cinema's Favorite threesome, JEANNE MOREAU as CATHERINE and OSKAR WERNER and HENRI SERRI as "JULES AND JIM"! So, check it out Everyone and I hope you all enjoy it. Thank you.

CANON OF FILM: "JULES AND JIM"
JULES AND JIM (1962) Director: Francois Truffaut Screenplay: Francois Truaffaut & Jean Gruault adapted from the novel by Henri-Pierre Roche I think there's a time in every young cinephile where we are somewhat dismissive of Francois Truffaut; I know I went ...

Hey Everyone,

Sorry, for the delays, but welcome everyone, to the 7TH ANNUAL ONE-YEAR-AWARDS NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT! Yes, The OYL AWARDS; the only awards show that honors not the best for this part year, but THE BEST IN FILM from the YEAR BEFORE. We always take the time, to see as many films as possible and sort through what truly was the BEST IN FILM, and not just, have an immediate response to what's cool. Of course, we took a particularly long time to sort through them this year, as you can tell, but hopefully, that was time well-spent. So, here we go, no further delays, the NOMINEES for this year's OYL AWARDS are...! So, check it out Everyone and I hope you all enjoy it. Thank you.

Hey Everyone,

So, we're gonna discuss BINGE WATCHING, and why it's not a good way to ANALYZE TELEVISION, or at least base your analysis and/or criticisms of television on it. I've seen a little too much of that lately, and we're gonna look at a few shows, where I think this comes into play. The predominant one ironically, is "TWIN PEAKS". Not the new version, which I haven't seen, (Although yes, we'll bring up that stupid debate too) but the ORIGINAL SERIES. (I've had this blog planned for awhile, I really didn't think this would be timely) It's not how you watch it, but how TELEVISION should be considered. So, check it out Everyone, and I hope you all enjoy it. Thank you.

WHY BINGE WATCHING ISN'T HOW TO ANALYZE/CRITICIZE TELEVISION?! (aka "The TWIN PEAK: THE RETURN" issue) Just because you can binge it, doesn't mean it's suddenly not a TV show.
So, "Twin Peaks" is back in the news lately. Now, this is for a few reasons, and I'll get to them, but I should note that I planned this blog awhile ago, and wasn't prepared for what is the stupidest and most elitist and moronic debate going on in the cinep...
