Hey folks! Letting you know that later tonight, I will be heading down to Alabama and Mississippi for the next week. Any orders placed through the Namesake store will not be shipped until Thursday, September 27. Sorry for the inconvenience! I tried to get the cats to do the work for me, but they just ignored me and laid on the printer. As usual.

We've hit $10,000 in the Namesake Kickstarter! Thank you guys so much for all the support thus far! There's still 14 days left to make a pledge if you want to pre-order vol. 1.

*Greetings everyone, and I'm sorry for the lack of updates through G+ lately! Those of you who follow the regular site updates or me and Isa on Twitter/Tumblr have probably seen we raised enough in Kickstarter so far to fund the printing of Namesake #1!

So, what's next? Here's a brief Q&A:

Can I still pre-order Namesake #1 through Kickstarter? Yes, absolutely! The Kickstarter lasts until February 23 at 2 a.m. ET, and you can make any pledge you want until then.

What will you do with the extra funds? First and foremost is to pay for shipping of a couple boxes of books via airmail to ensure that we have some Namesake on hand for TCAF. Second is to pay for shipping for the rest of the books from the port in Philadelphia to my apartment in Mechanicsburg. That’s about $500 or so from what I can remember. Originally, I had planned to drive to Philly to pick up the books, but having seen a similar shipment from another Kickstarter, I said to my husband, “I don’t think I could fit these in the car!” I’m just glad we have my office to store them all in!

After that, if we have a lot of pre-orders, I’ll probably raise the printing from 1,000 to 1,500. Thus far, we have 172 print volumes pre-ordered. Then, we’ll be offsetting some of the costs to send both me and Isa to TCAF – bus fare for her, gas for me, hotel for both of us, the table, etc. Beyond that, we can explore going to other cons, putting the money aside to fund book 2 or look at some of the other Namesake-related publications we’ve talked about.

What’s the progress on the book right now? I’ve sent Isa a good chunk of the chapter 8 script so I can get back to work on preparing the book files. Isa and her boyfriend Pascal have been redoing coloring on the art on the earlier chapters, and I am stripping the original PSD files, doing an editing pass for spelling/grammar/consistency and replacing it in InDesign and doing the CMYK conversion for the colors. I’ll be doing a video showing the book creation process probably within the next week or so.

Again, thank you so much! You guys really are the best readers ever.

Introduction
Namesake is the story of Emma Crewe, a woman who discovers she can visit other worlds. She finds out that these are places she already knows – fantasy and fairy lands made famous through the spoken word, literature and cinema. Her power as a Namesake forces her to act as a protagonist in these familiar stories as she figures out how to get home.
