We've just made the Citizen Maths web site live, and we are taking registrations for the course, which we will release on or about 12 September. We are using this phase of Citizen Maths partly to judge the impact and potential of open online courses for adult learners of mathematics at intermediate level. So please register for the course; and when it launches do it, or scrutinise it, and critique it.
Here's an explanatory snippet from the website:
"Brush up your maths for free. Most of us know how to do straightforward maths. Then a task comes along and we can’t see how to use our simple maths to get to the answer we need. It feels just out of reach. Like working out how many bags of cement you need to order to lay a concrete base for a new garage… or gauging percentages of a budget. Citizen Maths is an online resource anyone can use — to discover how maths can be a powerful tool for solving those problems that come up at work and in your life. So next time, you won’t have to think twice."
We've also published on the Citizen Maths "Information Hub" some informal reflections from Google's June Course Builder workshop in Zurich: http://info.citizenmaths.com/june-2014-google-course-builder-workshop/
