Those who lament the Senate Democrats’ vote to end filibusters for presidential nominations say the move will escalate partisan warfare and destroy what comity is left in Congress. Some also charge hypocrisy, since Democrats once opposed the very step they took last week.

The roll out of #Obamacare has hit another snag lately. Many Americans are getting lettings of cancellation from the health insurance provider. These cancellations come despite the fact that the president promised that those who liked their insurance will get to keep it. So who is to blame for this wave of cancellations.

Given the problems HealthCare.gov has suffered, the deadlines need to be extended.  The government should add time to the deadlines equal to the amount of time the website remains broken.

With no end in sight to the drama surrounding NSA surveillance, President Obama has finally decided to try and quell the situation. Though he still denies that the NSA spies on Americans, the president proposed changes to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) to increase transparency in the surveillance program. Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the president said that given the history of abuse by governments around the world, it was right to question surveillance.

 The rumor mill has already begun on the next set of Nexus devices. The Asus built Nexus 7 just hit the market, and it arrived to critical acclaim. That success apparently did not go unnoticed, as reports from Geek.com indicate that Asus will replace Samsung as the manufacturer behind the next Nexus 10. It is also being reported by Taylor Wimberly that Motorola will design the next Nexus smartphone, and that it will not be the Moto X.

In yet another troubling instance of unconstitutional government behavior, Reuters is reporting that a unit of the Drug Enforcement Administration is funneling surveillance information to law enforcement agencies across the nation, then instructing them to conceal the origins of the information. Essentially, law enforcement agents are recreating the investigative trail and keeping the original information away from defense lawyers, prosecutors, and even judges. The DEA unit in question is known as the Special Operations Division (SOD) and the process is called parallel construction.

 The Associated Press is reporting that US Army Pfc Bradley Manning has been acquitted of aiding the enemy for giving secrets to WikiLeaks. However, Manning was convicted of 5 espionage counts that carry long prison sentences. He was also convicted on 5 theft counts. Sentencing will come in the next few weeks.

I must have gotten a defective model.  Mine came in around 2:00 PM, and worked fine, but by 8:00 PM it was no longer working.  The light was not on, and it was very hot. I know the booklet says it runs hot, but I believe it may be fried.  I was pretty cool while it lasted though.
