VIRTUAL REALITY WITH GOOGLE CARDBOARD: AN ADVENTURE IN LEARNING

Google Cardboard is a new affordable way to experience virtual reality with great possibilities for learning. Join our course to learn how to use Google Cardboard with your students and envelope them in a world where they can walk among the stars, view the Eiffel Tower, take virtual field trips, play virtual reality learning games, and more. We will also explore ways in which to make your own virtual reality 3D video that can be used with the Googles. Participants will receive two Google Cardboard virtual reality goggles to bring back to their classroom. Participants must be able to bring a smartphone to class Android or iPhone.

JOIN THE MAKER MOVEMENT WITH 3D PRINTING

The “Join the Maker Movement with 3D Printing” course is intended to provide educators with a background and basic expertise in developing projects for students to design and create with 3D printers. Teachers will learn how to build 3D models and print 3D objects using a 3D printer as well as pedagogy and real world applications.

You will receive a 3D printer as part of the course. Hope to see you there!!

Each class is from 9 to 4 each day. We will not meet during April vacation. You get a whole 3 graduate credits in one fun, challenging week of learning!

There are some great courses coming up at Castleton University!  iPads Apps for Content Areas  (1 day, 1 credit) and The Interactive Classroom (3 grad. credits).  Both courses come with an iPad if you would like one.  The Interactive Classroom course will allow you to build your online LMS for use with your students.  This will allow you to create a classroom without walls, use the Universal Design for Learning to help reach all students, and personalize learning.  For more information on either of these courses, click on the links below to go to the website for information and registration.  You need to register soon though so that iPads can be ordered.  Hope to see you there!

iPads for the Classroom is intended to provide educators with basic expertise in using the iPad to facilitate learning for students that will engage and inspire them. We will learn how to set them up, change settings to meet classroom/student needs, how to find resources and apps as well as pedagogy.   iPads are powerful teaching and learning tools that naturally differentiate learning.

For those participants needing and iPad, Castleton will order it for you and it will be delivered to you on March 7, 2015.

Description

AR or Augmented Reality is a new way to engage students. Imagine creating a real life video style game where students are in the game and have to solve content-based problems with using their smart phones, iPads or iPods. Augmented Reality: A New Way of Seeing is intended to provide educators with a background and basic expertise in creating augmented reality auras for teaching and learning. You will learn to build your own augmented reality channel, create overlays, triggers and aura to use in your classroom. Participants will need to bring a smart phone (Android or iPhone), or iPad for the course.
