After years of valiant service, Timmy my LBC is retiring as the public face of Funny Poems for Kids. Now aged 13 (well past human retirement age), Timmy suffered a injury last week which left him with three broken ribs. He's being wonderfully well cared for at the animal hospital in Derby, but will have to take life very gently in the future...

Our most popular Fathers Day poem whis year is 'Superdad' by Paul Curtis, although it perhaps has less appeal to dads than their kids.
Is your dad a superhero, a superdad or a superdud? Superdad is a slightly tongue in cheek poem about a father who has many and obvious failings,

In the run up to Fathers Day, a poem by Paul Curtis which will amuse and bemuse in equal measure.

It is the perfect universal fathers / mothers / parents day poem for an age obsessed by sexual equality, as it's adoring of mothers and quite scathing of fathers (as are may kids).

I've been neglecting things recently (if you sleep 23 hours a day, it's inevitable) but I'm now galvernising myself into action to launch the kids poetry competion. An Olympic theme is bound to be a winner!

I hope you've enjoyed reading those Olympic poems, because our poetry competition is now live and it's all about getting sporty. Your poems can be about absolutely anything you count as a sport, so get creative!
Give it a go and submit your entries now.
The theme of Funny Poems for Kids 2012 Poetry Competition for Children is poems about sport. Write a sporting poem and you could win a fabulous prize chosen by Timmy, who's unfortunately not very good...

The Schools Minister is promoting the benefits of children learning and reciting poetry at school. Sadly many teachers fail to appreciate that contemporary poetry is both fun and educational, whereas 18th century poetry is entirely alien to today's pupils.

A new poem by Max Scratchmann to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. It's hilariously funny, but slightly surroyal (sic).

Introduction
I'm the general catsbody a Funny Poems for Kids, answering emails, choosing competition prizes, shredding documents and generally keeping the poets in order. I even write the odd poem, although I've probably destroyed more than I've written.
