Inferior long term stay accommodation compared with other facilities at this price point. I must agree with other reviewers that food quality is a problem; perhaps engaging the services of a cordon bleu chef may raise the standards. Front desk staff could have been a bit more helpful; I had asked on arrival for a quiet single room with a view, but instead found myself sharing with others in a noisy area. Several times I complained about the noise being made by groups of other guests engaging in acts of physical intimacy at unreasonable hours but my complaints were met with indifference. Compared with similar overseas facilities (e.g. Folsom), this place desperately needs modernisation. Soundproofing rooms would be a good first step.

No "good night guarantee" and the "All you can eat breakfast" was, well, shall we say "lacking" Why is it that all hotels south of Watford gap refuse to offer Black Pudding with your breakfast. Concierge service was well below par. If you need fags, booze etc forget the front desk...just ask for Big Ted in room 453. Staff OK but some the other guests seemed to be working on long term contracts as one chap informed me he had been staying for 3 years. Can only give this hotel 3 stars as I could not get a copy of the Telegraph delivered. Could do better.

Minimum stay was a little inflexible but prices are reasonable so I guess it works out OK in the end.

Rooms very sparce with no door as such. Toilet facilties minimal. Washroom painful. Food could be better although captive audience selling point and owner doesn't give permission for takeaway or eating out. Accommodation unusual in that its free to the guest. Can only assume its state funded. Personally will not stay again, however many guests come back often.

Big Terry was lovely. Bit touchy feely, but very warm and welcoming. Try the fish.

If you arrive late just ignore the "No Vacancy" sign and ring the doorbell. There's a caretaker on duty 24hrs.
