Routine eye exams are not only necessary to assess the need for glasses and contacts to see better but also to detect many eye diseases that initially do not have any symptoms. One such disease is glaucoma which is associated with higher than normal eye pressure and can eventually lead to peripheral vision loss and blindness if not treated in a timely manner. Many systemic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease and thyroid disease also effect the eyes and as a result yearly exams are essential in these cases.

This is Rowdy our office mascot and eye wear model. Rowdy is a rescued Bison Frize, which literally means small curly lap dog in French. He is merry, cheerful, playful, affectionate, loves human company and has quite a big fan base at our office. He loves to dress up for special occasions and wear the latest designer eye glasses. So, be for a look out for his latest picture on Valentine's Day.
In general, dogs are color blind or better said color deficient. Dogs do see colors but the colors that they see are, neither as rich nor as many, as seen by humans. This is because they only have two kinds of cones ,color sensitive light receptors in the retina, as compared to humans who have three.
Unlike their sense of smell, dogs do not have a very keen sense of sight. Most dogs might benefit from a pair of glasses since the average dog has a visual acuity of 20/70 which is not enough to drive with in GA. This is a good enough reason not to let your dog do the driving no matter how tired you are. Stay tuned for more pictures from our top dog in fashion eye wear in the days to come.
