Yosemite Falls

With the water toppling over 2,400 feet down the side of the valley wall, Yosemite Falls is the highest measured waterfall in North America.

Springtime is a great time to visit Yosemite if you're looking for water within the valley. Even with the lack of rainfall we have had this year, we still had quite enough water coming down the falls. Though in past years, Yosemite Falls roars loud and full throughout the whole valley.

This was taken on the walkway headed into the Lower Falls Trail. To capture both Upper and Lower Falls it was composed as a nine frame pano.

Check out this massive Pano that I shot while in Yosemite last week after a night of snow fall. Though after only a couple of hours after sunrise, the snow was pretty much gone!

Golden View
Yosemite National Park

While the snow might have melted a bit from the morning snowcapped valley walls, the sunset at Valley View really did pay off.

I wasn't expecting any light at all...In fact, I just finished off all my pans and was about to get ready to start moving back up to the car till I started to see this odd glow on Leaning Tower. I started yelling for +Khris Griffis who was in the pooper and started pounding out a couple more pans.

After the light started moving onto El Capitan and Cathedral, there were about 100 people behind me. They must have been abandoning their cars on the road!

Griffith Early Morning Pano

Top Tip: If you want to used this location of The Griffith Observatory sitting in front of the L.A. Skyline you must get up early. Doing so will ensure you parking and an absents of that horrible parking lot light that they turn on in the evenings.

I like to get up there and wait for the Ranger to open the gate. Then once I get to the parking lot, I start my trek up the hill. Plus when you get up there when it's still rather dark, you can shoot with lights on.

Holiday Snake

Very early Christmas morning, Carlos and I headed up to snake in Malibu to catch some stars and possibly some reindeer. Right before I left, I grabbed this pano. This was the first time watching the canyon below empty for hours at a time. It was very odd and creepy. Make sure to check out +Carlos Gauna

It was a cold freezing night up on Mt. Wilson.

The Snow and Bored

We also made some timelapses, but not before putting up a couple Sb910's zoomed to 200mm and place high just out of frame (left and right) and making a little long exposure group shot. Got to love that #NikonCLS and TTL, so little thinking involved, so much better than walking to the camera, then to each light, then back to the camera, then back to postion... #mtwilson with +Bobby Gibbons

Hermosa Beach Pier

Sometimes I think Redondo Beach gets all the fun, but the Hermosa Beach Pier is just as cool...possibly even cooler!

For those that haven't had a chance to visit Los Angeles' Southbay, it sits underneath the popular beach side communities like Santa Monica and Venice. This area holds a more quaint beach community attracting far less tourism and way more local activities like paddle-boarding, beach volleyball, and local hangouts.

Along the Strand there are a couple of Pier: Redondo Beach and the other Hermosa. I tend to like the Hermosa Beach Pier a bit more. Between the two, Hermosa is a little newer, though it was rebuilt 1913.

It's not unusual to find people fishing into the night or others enjoying a picnic and a sunset along the top...and who could attest to a sunset much like this one.
