A few years ago, I wrote a proof-of-concept script that lets you set scheduled commands on your computer using Google Calendar as a frontend. It made a bit of a splash and ended up frontpaged at Lifehacker (http://lifehacker.com/5179566/gcalcron-automates-your-linux-system-with-google-calendar
), but I didn't have the time or skills to keep up to day or even harden it into a final product.
So, I was really happy to get an email the other day from +Fabrice Bernhard
, a programmer from Switzerland who had the same idea and wrote a much more complete and polished script, using mine as a template to get started. He was kind enough to credit me and named his own work after my own, so I wanted to give the project a shout out here. If you run any kind of linux box, check out the link and give it a shot!
