Came here with a small group of friends. They ask for a credit card to make a reservation at Opentable, but they're pretty flexible about changing the group size and time. Since there were a few of us, we were able to try a bunch of different dishes. Service was generally good, but tended to lag towards the end of the night. APPETIZERS The burrata was amazing. Definitely a must have. The calamari was okay -- the batter was well seasoned but I thought there was too much batter. It got kinda heavy and I wanted to save room for all the other delicious things we ordered. Asparagus was great -- the sauce it came with was really good. We also got this fennel salad, I think, that was also good -- very refreshing. PASTAS All of them were really good, and we tried 5-6 different kinds. Memorable ones were the pesto and the ricotta and eggplant dumpling one (forgot the name). My pappardelle with lamb ragu was good, but I thought some of the other pastas were better. The taglierini with dungeness crab was also very good. My least favorite was the carbonara, which I thought was bland and heavy.

Fast service and the food was decent but the portions were incredibly small and way overpriced. The bread tasted like rubber. Go somewhere else.

Handmade pasta with walnut pesto. Colorful, buttery smooth, and hits you just at the right spot when paired with a glass of good red wine. Start with antipasti, chat up a storm with your friends over wine, and make your way through pasta, main dishes, and dessert - just like in Italy. When the weather is nice out, opt for the beautiful rooftop seating!

We had a decent meal at Farina. But for this kind of scratch, I expected something memorable. Our $14 cocktails were good. Not amazing. The foccacia appetizer was good, but again, not amazing. It was an interesting take - thin flat bread with melty cheese inside - but I felt it was dominated by the cornmeal it was cooked on. Our pasta dishes were both excellent, especially the gnocchi. Overall this was a good meal, and if this were a two dollar sign restaurant I'd have left feeling okay about our meal. But at this price point I expect to be wowed, and I wasn't. And the real kicker - when the bill arrived, they added a $3 service charge per person, *plus* 5% for Healthy SF. I'm sorry, this is so tacky, especially for a restaurant with $30 pasta entrees. It left me feeling nickel and dimed when we left.

What gets attention about this restaurant is the decor and space. Food, is good. Typical Italian with a high end twist. Service is good too. A little on the snoby side. Personally, I haven't been back since my first time which was five years ago. I think Italian food should be just like it is in Italy. Good, filling and humble. Nice place for a first date though ...

All the recent warnings are right. Basically, stay away. I've also been coming here for years, but whatever happened, I'm not going back. Overall, the food is still good, but with prices up about 40%, and service down 100%, it's just not worth your money. It still fills up, but not like before, and there's no way that's going to last. The management is completely apathetic to any issue you might bring them. The staff is just atrocious now, and we used to be friends with many of them (that are no longer there). Save yourself the aggravation. What a joke our Saturday night dinner was.
