What gets attention about this restaurant is the decor and space. Food, is good. Typical Italian with a high end twist. Service is good too. A little on the snoby side. Personally, I haven't been back since my first time which was five years ago. I think Italian food should be just like it is in Italy. Good, filling and humble. Nice place for a first date though ...

Arguably the most overpriced restaurant on Earth and we're talking hundreds, not tens of dollars. The food is good but not great, the portions are as small as possible without causing a riot. To compare this to Incanto is to say one knows nothing about food. Not so much restaurant as cash machine and I guess you could call what they do service. Our experience was a while back but it was so dismal that I take every opportunity to bash them. We are Genovese Italians and no, this is not the Italian experience. Only for those who want to pay for the privilege of being abused. If you want great food there are hundreds of better restaurants.

Farina has been one of my favorite Mission neighborhood restaurants for the past 4 years. It's one of my go-to spots for taking business colleagues and out-of-towners for a delicious meal away from the tourists. The food is northern Italian (Ligurian to be precise). The walnut pesto is out of this world. All of the pasta dishes are amazing. The portion sizes are adequate (it's pasta after all, no need to gorge yourself). The service varies on who you get, but the hostesses are always friendly and the bar team is excellent. If you're solo, it's a great spot for dining/drinking at the bar alone. Just one question - when is that rooftop deck finally going to open for good?

Farina is a really pretty restaurant, all shiny and modern. I know two couples who had their first dates here, and both are making it to the altar. So I firmly believe there is some good first date juju at Farina, and you know if someone is willing to pay these prices, they are into you! Farina has a great staff, seriously really friendly employees. It was pretty quiet (read:dead) for a sunday night. We got lots of attentive staff who answered questions off the menu, suggested wine pairings, and made sure our water glasses were never below halfway full. I was underwhelmed by the food though, especially considering the prices. The mandilli walnut pesto pasta was amazing, and the only thing I would order again. Make sure you eat it immediately, or it will start to congeal a little. The other two dishes we ordered: the giganti di faroana and risotto were forgettable, both could have used more flavor. We also ordered the fococcia featuring the "famous" Stracchino cheese which literally means Tired. Our waiter shared with us that the cows are herded up the mounatin and then milked in the higher altitude, reportedly making the soft young cheese more acidic and fattier. This cheese is then imported three times a week to Farina, so that it's freshly plated. SO the high prices are paying for the cheese's air fare. one appetizer three pasta dishes three glasses of wine three people and a bill near $200!!! I wanted to LOVE Farina so much, and would definitely return for a drink. I would not pay for a full dinner there again, unless I'm being treated on a first date ;)

I went here for Friday dinner with some coworkers. The ambiance is really nice, especially at night with the big front windows. The focaccia in the bread basket is amazing. To start, we ordered 1) the scallops and 2) the prosciutto and burrata on focaccia. 1) was light. The burrata was creamy and paired nicely with the prosciutto. I was happy the waiter cut up 2) into bite-size chunks for us. Otherwise it would have been hard to share. For my main, I had the Mandilli Di Seta Al Pesto Ligure Di Mandorle, which was incredible. The pasta was light, thin, silky. The pesto sauce was very basily and a tad bit creamy. Over all a very light-feeling dish. The portion size was small. The latte dolce fritto was by far the best of the desserts we tried. Fried cubes of custard covered in cinnamon and sugar. Amazing. Service was slow. I didn't have to pay for the meal. If I did I think it would have been too expensive for what we had.
