WHY ARE BABIES SO CUTE?

What about those little bundles of joy do we find so compelling? Are we hard-wired to like "cute" things?

Find out in our lastest VIDEO!

A special thanks to our collaborators, Earth Unplugged, whose sister video looks at why some animals are ugly: http://youtu.be/8nYpVlTdr3I

A bubble freezing at -23 degrees C (-10 degrees F)...

As a reminder of the winter that was (in southern Ontario, Canada anyway).

The skull of a two-headed calf is cleaned by flesh-eating beetles (dermestids).

These beetles are often used by scientists/curators/forensics experts to remove excess flesh and begin the process of "skeletonization" where harsh chemicals would damage the bones. Sometimes nature really does do it better.

How ants walk.

While walking three legs at a time seems strange to humans, it's common in hexapods, and one of the reasons why ants can move so fast. If, from a relative perspective, a human could run as fast as an ant, we would be as speedy as a race horse.

We like this quote from the fourth episode of NDT's #Cosmos on some of the rules for moving science thinking (and all thinking, in general) into the future.

Chad, you are mistaken. There are a lot of credible scientists who know it is correct. There are whole museums showing how true ity is.

ENGLISH IS CRAZY!

Seriously...it's an insane language and here's why! If only it could follow the rules and logic of science (which we know isn't always so logical either...). Watch the new AsapTHOUGHT here:
